Pastor Charged With Soliciting For Sex

RANDLEMAN, N.C. -- The pastor of a High Point church was arrested and charged Tuesday after police said he solicited a woman to have sex with him.

Police said Otis Durham Jr., pastor of Sandy Ridge United Methodist Church, asked a woman he was communicating with via e-mail to perform oral sex on him in exchange for a legal act.

Police declined to say what the act was.

Investigators said the woman, who was in her 30s, and Durham began communicating on May 23, but the conversation quickly turned sexual.

That's when the woman called police and investigators began communicating with Durham through e-mail pretending to be the woman.

Investigators set up a meeting for Tuesday morning in the Wal-Mart parking lot in Randleman, where Durham, who thought he would be meeting the woman, was arrested and charged with solicitation for prostitution and solicitation for crimes against nature.
