Robber wielded sex toy in bookie raid

He might have done it for the buzz - but Nicki Jex's bank robbery turned into a complete flop.

The junkie held up a bookies with his girlfriend's Rampant Rabbit sex toy.

Jex, 27 - who was high on drinks and drugs - escaped with more than £600 after fooling staff into believing the vibrator was a gun.

But he was followed by customer Wayne Vakani to a nearby pub where he bragged to pals about pulling off the raid.

And yesterday the chef was jailed for five years after admitting robbery.

Jex was videoed entering the bookies in Leicester with a hat pulled down over his face and brandishing his "weapon" wrapped in a carrier bag.

Prosecutor Timothy Palmer told Leicester crown court: "He pointed it at a cashier. She immediately assumed it to be a firearm. In fact, it was his girlfriend's vibrator."

Jex then turned the hidden Rampant Rabbit on the shop manager, demanding cash.

She handed over £613. As Jex was trailed outside by Mr Vakani he pointed at his bag, and warned him off. Mr Vakani kept his distance and saw him enter the pub where he bought drinks and joked about his heist.

Defending, Phil Gibbs said Jex had earlier split with his girlfriend. Mr Gibbs said: "He had some of her items.

At the time, he couldn't care less what happened. He was in a fragile state of mind."

Jex had 21 previous convictions. Mr Vakani was awarded £500 for his bravery.
