Madrid - A Spanish driver who hit and killed a 17-year-old cyclist is seeking damages worth 20,000 euros (30,000 dollars) for the damage his car suffered in the accident, the daily El Pais reported Friday.
The Audi A8 hit Enaitz Iriondo in the dark as he was cycling home from a meeting with friends in the northern La Rioja region in 2004.
Iriondo's parents were paid damages of 33,000 euros by the driver's insurance company, but the driver is now seeking damages from the parents for the damage done to his car which he had to replace.
'What happened to the boy cannot be fixed, but my case can,' the driver argued, admitting he did not really need the money. Iriondo's parents described the court case as 'the last blow.'
The court was expected to decide on Wednesday.
