CHARDON, Ohio -- Controversy is brewing over a high school graduation ceremony. The controversy centers around what two students want to wear at the ceremony and when they walk across the stage to get their diploma.Share Your Thoughts Will McDonnell, an active duty Marine and Tony Workman, an Army National Guardsman, will soon graduate from Chardon High School in Geauga County.McDonell took extra classes and met his graduation requirements last fall so he could attend a Marine boot camp in February.Workman went through the Army basic training last summer. The two military men want to wear their military uniforms instead of their caps and gowns to their high school graduation. The school district said it has come up with a compromise, allowing the students to wear their military uniforms and march with the Color Guard to lead the graduation procession. The school said the students would be honored for their military service but will then be asked to don the cap and gown when they join the rest of their class. Both students said they'll skip the ceremony because of the school's decision.Read the Chardon Schools statement.
