OAKLAND PARK, Fla. -- An Oakland Park man found human skeletal remains hanging from a tree in his back yard Friday.

The Broward Sheriff's Office said Glenn Parker discovered the remains at about 3:45 p.m. while examining a tree that had recently been trimmed.

According to the BSO, BellSouth sent a subcontracted tree service to cut back the branches of the tree Thursday to allow repair crews to service the phone line. After BellSouth crews made the repairs, Parker was examining the tree when he noticed what appeared to be a skull, a hand and the rest of the remains hanging several feet off the ground.

A preliminary assessment of the remains by BSO homicide detectives indicated the remains have been hanging from the tree since last year and might have been camouflaged by the tree.

The remains were taken to the medical examiner's office to determine a cause of death, but BSO detectives said it appears to be a suicide.
