It Takes a Few Taser Shots to Subdue Naked Man

BREMERTON

It took two officers at least three Taser shocks and two pairs of handcuffs to subdue a 6-foot-5-inch naked man believed to be on PCP on Tuesday, according to Bremerton police reports.

Officers were called to the 2600 block of Stevens Drive for reports of a 23-year-old Silverdale man with his pants around his ankles and "screaming at the top of his lungs." A man at the scene said the man was "stressing out," had ripped off all his clothing and was "not acting rational."

Only an officer and an undercover detective were on scene. They began to hear fighting inside a nearby home. The officer suspected the man inside was on PCP, noting that two other suspects have recently been found to be on the drug in the city. When the officer said he was going to check inside, the man replied, "You're going to need a lot more officers," describing the man's 315-pound frame.

The officer called for backup as he and the detective entered the house. Almost immediately, the man appeared, naked. The officer said the man "locked on" to police and had a "wild" look in his eyes, with his chest heaving and arms flailing from side to side, reports said.

The man began a "rapid advance" and was yelling, so the officer pulled his Taser. Without time to warn the suspect, the officer fired it, which ultimately put the suspect on the ground, reports said.

But the officer said the suspect repeatedly attempted to get up and was shocked two or three more times before the detective cuffed the man with two sets of handcuffs

The man was saying random sentences such as "make a movie" and "times five," and he had attempted to lick the Taser's wires, the officer reported. Officers covered the man with a blanket and watched as he began biting at the grass and put "mouthfuls" of dirt and grass in his mouth.

Police searched the home and found drug paraphernalia inside. Officers estimated a about $1,000 in damage to the home.

He was taken to Harrison Medical Center for an evaluation, then taken to Kitsap County jail on suspicion of malicious mischief.

Wow. Dangerous situation. The Taser worked this time, but I have heard of it either killing PCP users or not affecting them at all. The man was already under tremendous physical stress and the Taser shot could have stopped an already overtaxed heart. That would have been too bad, but it would have been the PCP that killed him, not the Taser.

You click the link of a Kitsap Sun story with a title like this, and just wait for the page to load...

1, 2, 3...

The first word in the story is almost always the same:

"BREMERTON"

I know! It really irks me! It is a conspiracy, I tell ya. The guy is obviously from Poulsbo. 6'5" is a dead giveway. We keep them to a manageable size here in Bremerton.

The PCP was probably smuggled in from Poulsbo too! A guy that big could probably conceal quite a bit.

Itchy if you don't like it here, MOVE!!! I'm sick of the slamming of Bremerton and Kitsap county. Find a place where this type of thing doesn't happen and move your whiny self there.

Posted by wetbikerwa on November 14, 2007 at 9:35 p.m. (Suggest removal)

just wondering where you suspect the stories to be from, since this is a Bremerton/Kitsap paper?
Sorry, but why would there be stories about somewhere else? The fun part of a small town paper is that they can put these stories in. Big papers don't bother.

they should have shot him.

If the taser hadn't worked that was probably Plan B. Glad this idiot is still alive to pay the restitution for the damage he caused. Time for Westnet to find the supplier of the PCP... and put him and his associates in a box. One with bars or one in the ground; as a taxpayer and a law abiding citizen, I'm tired of these people and their poisons. It's time to take back our community.

6'5", 315 pounds, naked and on PCP...not a good mix.

Posted by lynnwa on November 15, 2007 at 6:24 a.m. (Suggest removal)

How does a 6'5 312 lb naked man with pants around his ankles make a rapid advance? I didn't know that there was still PCP out there? He could fit in with all the tweekers in KC with that kind of behavior! Scary!!

Joe Lelah, are you the same person who used to have a trucking company in LA? If so, I think we have a couple of disputed freight charges you bailed on. I should be so lucky to find you.

Posted by michael on November 15, 2007 at 9:40 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Sure it says Bremerton, but it was a man from Silverdale. There are places with worse records: Belfair, for example.

Eating grass and dirt, not a good diet.
I would hate to be this guy when he comes down and hears the story. Wonder if they got it on video??? How incredibly embarassing!!!
Why are we defending Bremerton like it
is a resort town or something??

Posted by dtee on November 15, 2007 at 10:05 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Nothing wrong with a grass and dirt diet, my chickens like it and lay good eggs too. Too bad this puke didn't die from being taserd, would save taxpayers from future yearly jail and prison expenses. Bremerton does have its' fair share of pukes just like any other town, they are everywhere.

Posted by Delmont on November 15, 2007 at 10:26 a.m. (Suggest removal)

I wonder if he is an extra in the movie they are filming in Port Gamble now "Zombies of Mass Destruction" also does anyone know what PCP is, I have heard it makes people violent but what kind of a drug is it, speed or LSD?

Posted by rdb726g on November 15, 2007 at 10:44 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Silverdale is not in Bremerton. It's in unincorporated Kitsap County. Stevens Dr., is indeed Bremerton. And yes, I too agree that it's ok to poke fun at your hometown without being run out of town. It is part of the flavor of living in a small town.

Posted by lizziemac on November 15, 2007 at 11:54 a.m. (Suggest removal)

PCP is Phencyclidine, its a hallucinogen. It is like LSD< but produces much more violent behavior. It can also cause Seizures, coma and death. Good drug to have on our streets. Trust me this is the one drug we don't want, most users are not brought down by a taser, they often just get more angry and pull them out. Alot of PCP users on a bad trip get shot. It's about all that will stop them. It's a huge stimulant. They originally investigated it for an anesthetic back in the 50's, but it didn't really produce the effects they were hoping for.

Posted by Civil_E on November 15, 2007 at 12:36 p.m. (Suggest removal)

All the people that think this behavior is only seen in Bremerton need to watch Jerry Springer!

Posted by rollins on November 15, 2007 at 12:46 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Belfair is not as bad as Bremerton. You don't see much written up about Belfair, so Mr. michael what are talking about, yourself.

I thought Jerry Springer was broadcast from Bremerton?

I just LOVE the "Drama" on this site!! I am a native of Bremerton.. Yes there are LOTS of druggies and LOTS of other people here too!! You only hear about the "Bad" stuff because its news -worthy (at least to the Sun staff).. I haven't seen many news-worthy stories about my trip to the grocers or the way I position my garbage can on Thursday nights or that I buy Charmin...LOL If your unhappy here move to where you ARE happy..

Lifes short..Quityerbitchin' and smile:c}

Just my opinion!!

Hey Micheal, leave Belfair out of this one:)

How can I leave Bremerton when I have never lived there?

There are other places in Kitsap County where life doesn't look like an episode of COPS.

Posted by grammamarge666 on November 15, 2007 at 9:30 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Given time eventually ALL areas will have their 15 minutes of fame!

Just my opinion!!

Posted by Eaton_Dogfud on November 15, 2007 at 10:48 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Yea - leave Belfair out of it!

Belfair is in Mason County, and therefore not eligible to compete with Bremerton for the honor of Armpit of Kitsap County.

I can see that some people need constructive, useful hobbies. Everyone thinks they have all answers. anyone ever ask what would bpd do if it were not for criminals? what would most of you do? probably put down nerds or geeks or fat people. i would like to remind some folks that these people are people.our brother sisters cousins aunts uncles etc. many have a disease called addiction. many more are mentally ill, probably from being teased or put down by perfect people like some of you. this big dude is some ladies son. maybe she was a wacko church dweller and put crazy crap in his head. maybe a smile and a kind word could have changed his life. then maybe not. thats the wonderful mysterious god at work. life is like a box of chocolates, some full of nuts. we all bleed blood, supossedly from the same 2 people. what makes you any better than him????

Ryan! That's not fair. Why bring shipyard workers in to this? The torn, dirty jeans are from hard work and dirty conditions. The flannels for the cold weather. Why all the shipyard worker bashing by people around here? I am sick of it. We're just out here trying to make a living. Sorry it disgusts you so much to have to see us leaving work. Jerk.

Posted by mebeingme on November 16, 2007 at 4:45 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Ryan-Its funny you can judge people you don't know! You must really be successful to do that. And if you are so successfull, why aren't you reading the Wall Street Journal or something. Why leave BUMMERTOWN, sit on your oh so professional ass and of all papers read the KITSAP SUN??? Do you need the drama because the big successful city you moved to is so crimeless and boring that you need something to do? I think you truly miss it!

Blue Sky-Ryan is so privilaged to not live in BUMMERTOWN and to not have to wear a flannel. He is so successful that he can buy an expensive fleece at Old Navy. He's not even worth the time anymore. Be proud to be a hard workeer no matter what you do or where you live. Alot of people do not have the success to live in a big expensive city like Ryan.

I have to get my two cents in on the Belfair comments. I work in Port Orchard and I am constantly hearing jokes about Mason County and Belfair. I live in Belfair, and after reading the Sun lately, and stories like this and the lug nut story, Kitsap county should be the butt of more jokes, and put on the same level as us hicks out here in Belfair.

Posted by mebeingme on November 19, 2007 at 8:23 a.m. (Suggest removal)

baseballmama-these people always have to bring up some other town no matter what the story is. Its stupid. I think they like the drama!

Why are all of the violent, druggy criminals from Bremerton or Belfair?

Maybe we should make everyone from Bremerton or Belfair wear a red shirt to match their necks?

When the BPD approached the front porch what did they do about all of the dogs under it? Or were the dogs hiding behind the broken appliances?

Posted by Gbin91 on November 19, 2007 at 7:54 p.m. (Suggest removal)

hey not everything bad happens in bremerton. many bad things happen in port orchard too. they just screw up the stories to an extent that they sound funny and worthless and not a serious crime.

Posted by artamus73 on November 23, 2007 at 12:04 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I do agree bremerton is the armpit of kitsap. Always has been, I'm not going anywhere been here my whole life, in Port Orchard, where we are nice enough to house bremertons drug addicts in our hotel. pcp is a bad one, so is meth though and it is scarey to see how it has taken over kitsap and the whole country. Remember when the biggest problem was the potheads? Those were the days.....As for what the one guy said, yes please bulldoze bremerton and start new, there is so much nice waterfront land there it could be nice, they are working on it a little at a time though i agree.
