School District says Shakespeare-inspired play is too lewd for high school students. Isn't Shakespeare "required reading"?!?

[I'm putting on a flame suit, because my opinion will not be popular.]
There are many elements in Shakespeare that are not appropriate for "sixth-through 12th graders." It indeed is required reading in high school, but in many ways is too graphic for sixth graders. There is a guess at the end of the article about the language that might have offended the administratior, and I have to agree. I wouldn't want my sixth grade daughter exposed to that language in an entertainment setting.

If the students don't really know shakespeare, they probably will not get what is going on antway. And since it was voluntary and not required ($5), I can't see enything wrong here.
