The town has a 30% Arab-American population, many of whom practice Islam. Police were called to stop a shouting match at a school board convention, although a final decision will be made in the next few weeks.

Let's have Fridays off because they are the day off for Muslims. Let's have Saturdays off, because they are the day off for Jews. Let's make Sundays obligatory workdays, because they are the day off for Christians. When in Rome make the Romans do as non-Romans do, never the other way round.
NB! When you read the article it turns out that the mother did not complain about celebrating the Christian holidays, but rather the other way round.

Why does everyone feel the need to tip toe around muslims. I have a lot muslim friends and I have yet to meet anyone who cares about christian holidays. When I was at school we put up christmas decorations and made stockings, even the muslims made them, they thought it was fun.
