Self-sacrificing mother in Fremont, California, put her five-month old baby in a trash can when a pit bull attacked. She went out to the garage to check on the laundry and the dog attacked. Owners agreed to turn dog into police after this second attack, but claim the dog ran away.

Update: owner has surrendered pit bull to police. Mother is amazed at outpourings of support; she's still worried how she'll pay her medical expenses and follow up care (she has no medical insurance).
