I'm reminded of the old Looney Toons cartoon where Elmer Fudd's dog Rover tries to kill him. I mean, they will no doubt rule this as a freak accident, but you just can never know for certain, can you...?

This is a fairly common story this time of year, Hardly a hunting season goes by that we don't get at least one "Dog shoots hunter" story.
Of course this is really dawrin type material, if the hunter practiced proper gun safety, he's still be practicing proper gun safety, but he did not, and thus helps to teach us why you should... Fatally

My mother in law is a hunter (insert your own joke here) and she says that it is just standard procedure to laen your gun against a fencepost *at least 3 posts away* from where you are climbing over a fence.
Lying a gun on the ground is just asking for trouble.
